The Swordsmith Village is taking the forefront of the new season
The Season 2 Finale
Demon Slayer closed out its second season with Tengen, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Tanjiro defeating the Upper Moon Demon six Daki, and Gyutaro and recovering from their battle. The preceding events follow Lord Muzan, the leader of the demon’s moons, as he calls his other top rank demons to destroy the Swordsmith VIllage.
This had fans eagerly excited for more Demon Slayer content and to see how this story would unfold compared to the manga.
There were a minority of people who thought this season was downgraded compared to the movie and season one of the anime. Reviewers note how the plot seemed abrupt when Tengen Uzui tried to use a young girl as an espionage tool, and Tanjiro and friends suddenly showed up and decided to go along with Tengen on his mission.
YouTuber Just Stop highly how parts of the manga simplified some of the structures of the demon slayer hierarchy system. This brought up several theories that were addressed in the Entertainment District Arc in season 2 which further developed the story.
Reviewers note how these short episodes won’t fully capture the story thereby leaving plot holes for characters and Hashira’s.
Some critics thought the finale fixed part of the plot issues in the first couple of episodes which helped further develop some characters like the Upper Demon Moon 3 Akaza. While others like Tanjiro and Zenitsu stayed relatively the same throughout the season.
What we know of Season 3
The Swordsmith Village Arc appears to be taking the forefront of the plot in season 3. In addition, the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanoji will be in this season. Not to mention a few other upper demon moons will be appearing in the series.
The trailer for the new season was extremely brief, only showing the two hashira’s and not revealing when the series will come out. Based on the previous season, audiences can assume that Demon Slayer will follow the annual premieres. This was a major concern for season 3 because the mangas only cover 30 chapters which would equate to a 12 episode anime.
Which would make the production of the show high quality but also increasing the timeline of the overall project.
